Enhancing the health and well-being of persons with mental retardation is the goal of BARC’s Recreation and Leisure program. The agency offers a variety of activities emphasizing health and physical development, including aerobics, exercise programs, swimming, bowling, basketball, and dances at a number of locations throughout the Baltimore metropolitan area.

Club Venture 2001 Summer Camp

What is Club Venture?
Club Venture is a week long residential camping adventure for adults with mental retardation and related developmental disabilities. The camp is located in the beautiful, well-equipped campground of Camp Louise in Cascade, Maryland approxiately 2 hours away from Baltimore.

Campers choose activities such as swimming, crafts, music, drama, sports, fishing, Spa Day, Olympic Day, dance, bingo, talent show, baseball and more.


Club Venture Counselor Opportunities

How is this job beneficial to me?
Club Venture is sponsored by the Baltimore Association for Retarded Citizens and offers job opportunities for students interested in fields such as special education, social work, rehabilitation therapy, etc. In addition to meals and lodging for the week, counselors receive a modest stipend and an experience guaranteed to change your life!

What does the job entail?
Two counselors are assigned to each cabin, with a maximum of 10 campers. Counselors provide support and companionship.

If you're someone who enjoys working with and helping others, then this is the job for you! No experience necessary!
